Where can CleanTech® Footwear Enhancements be used?

Our two CleanTech® Footwear Enhancements ensure that you can achieve proper footwear sanitation in any food manufacturing facility. Our wetted boot dip can be used in any area with a floor drain. If a floor drain is not available, our Low Moisture Footwear Sanitizing system attaches seamlessly to our CleanTech® handwashing station for footwear sanitation in any environment.

At Meritech we have two types of Footwear Enhancements for our our industrial CleanTech® handwashing stations: the Wetted Boot Dip and the Sole Clean Low Moisture. Both of these guarantee 12 seconds of contact time with footwear for more than 99.9% pathogen removal, but which is best for your manufacturing environment? Find out below!

Is Moisture a Concern in your Food Manufacturing Environment?

Both of our footwear enhancements can be used in a wet production environment, however for dry food manufacturing facilities like bakeries, we recommend our Sole Clean Low Moisture footwear enhancement. This is because it uses a Sanifect D2 alcohol-quat blend hygiene solution that evaporates quickly (in about 20 seconds) after stepping away from the CleanTech® handwashing station to ensure that no excess moisture enters the production area.

Is a Floor Drain Present in your Food Manufacturing Facility's Hygiene Zone?

If a floor drain is present or if you're building a hygiene zone with a floor drain, the Wetted Boot Dip footwear enhancement is a great option. The Wetted Boot Dip is a fully automated enhancement, so during each CleanTech® automated hand hygiene event the system injects some of our Self Clean hygiene solution that has a high-quat concentration into the boot dip pan with water. By doing this is, it automatically maintains 800-1000 PPM as recommended by FDA, FSMA and USDA food safety standards. During this process, excess water drains through the back of the pan which does have a debris area to ensure that debris does not collect in the pan where the user is standing.

If your food manufacturing facility's hygiene zone does not have a floor drain, the Sole Clean Low Moisture is a great way to remove pathogens from footwear and ensure food safety. It also attaches seamlessly to our CleanTech® industrial handwashing stations: the 2000S single-bay handwashing station and the 4000S three-bay handwashing station.

Do you wish to sanitize the sides of employee footwear for food safety?

Both of our pans can be used with street shoes, however if you're using something like a rubber work boot and wish to sanitize further up the sides of employee footwear, we recommend our Wetted Boot Dip CleanTech® footwear enhancement. The depth of the Wetted Boot Dip pan can be adjusted with three different mats: 1/4",  3/8" and 1/2" to reach the desired depth of hygiene solution for your footwear.

Do you have excess soils and debris that need to be removed before sanitizing footwear?

Our CleanTech® Footwear Enhancements work best when excess soils and debris are not present. In fact, in the Guidance for Industry: Prevention of Salmonella Enteritidis in Shell Eggs During Production, Storage, and Transportation, the FDA states that footwear must be cleaned and all organic matter prior to sanitization. This is because sanitization is not effective if footwear is not first cleaned, so if employee footwear does have excess soils or debris, we recommend the use of one of our automated bootscrubbers to remove those first. Removing these will ensure that more than 99.9% of pathogens like Salmonella and Listeria are removed from footwear during the 12 second CleanTech® handwash cycle.
