Meritech is the leader in automated hygiene technology— but more important than what we do is WHY we do it. At Meritech, we believe that we must redefine human hygiene to create a safer and healthier world. Absolutely everything we do at Meritech must be aligned with this belief and purpose. Meritech is the inventor of CleanTech®, the world’s only fully automated handwashing station. We have spent over 30 years developing and perfecting our technology by combining the best of engineering, science, and chemistry to deliver the perfect hand wash every time. Our technology has been validated with over 50 independent clinical studies that show a consistent pathogen removal of more than 99.9%. This level of effectiveness is achieved in just 12-seconds and by wasting zero water or solution.
Meritech is not merely a technology manufacturer—we develop long-term “Partnerships in Hygiene Excellence” with organizations that share our beliefs in the importance of effective human hygiene as the best method to prevent the spread of diseases. This is why we start relationships with our clients by providing full facility evaluations, creating or improving upon hygiene zones, developing employee throughput plans, and implementing full hygiene cultures throughout all levels of the organization. After the installation of our CleanTech® equipment, our team of Hygiene Experts and Technical Specialists located throughout the country perform recurring visits to complete deep-cleanings, calibrations, and continuous training of personnel. We truly aim to become an extension of our clients’ organizations in order to support long-term improved hygiene outcomes in fulfillment of their brand promise and corporate social responsibility.
CleanTech® is the world’s only fully automated handwashing station that is clinically proven to remove more than 99.9% of pathogens from hands in just 12 seconds—or what we lovingly refer to as “the perfect hand wash.” Using CleanTech® is completely touch-free, removing the risk of cross-contamination from touchpoints associated with manual handwashing. When hands are placed inside the cylinders, a photo-eye sensor detects motion and initiates the automated wash cycle. The spinning cylinders create a high-velocity low-pressure wash cycle consisting of water and UltraPure Hand Hygiene Solution that is evenly distributed across all surfaces of the hands (even the nails!). The spray pattern twists around the hands and wrists in a helix pattern much like a tornado, which pulls germs and pathogens off of the skin and down through the cylinder through a no-contact closed loop drain. The gentle “car wash” style spray pattern delivered by our unique cylinders not only feels amazing but also replaces the 20 seconds of scrubbing action required in a manual hand wash. The wash cycle includes a post-wash water rinse and completes automatically after 12 seconds.
CleanTech® stations have been clinically proven to REMOVE more than 99.9% of pathogens, not kill pathogens or germs. In fact, whether conducted manually or with an automated handwashing station, soap works with water to remove pathogens during a hand wash, not kill them. There are many reasons why this is just as effective in cleaning the hands and is actually better for long-term skin health. Since 1988 Meritech has preformed 50+ lab studies to test the efficacy of our automatic handwashing stations. We have continued to test, improve, and re-test CleanTech® in order to provide the perfect hanƒd wash every time in just 12 seconds. The methodology and ASTM standard our clinical studies follow is designed to measure net pathogen reduction on the surface of the skin on the hands—not total kill rate on a surface like other sanitizers. CleanTech® is superior to manual handwashing in three key areas:
CleanTech® features twenty rotating spray nozzles in each cylinder that spray lightly pressurized water and UltraPure Hand Hygiene Solution across the hands during the wash cycle, creating a spa, massage-like sensation for the hands. Anyone who tries a CleanTech® Hand Wash for the first time remarks on how amazing it feels—"like a spa for the hands!" This amazing experience encourages increased use alone. On top of that, Meritech's UltraPure Hand Hygiene Solution contains added skin conditioners so hands feel softer with each wash. With a good compliance monitoring program and the use of the automatic hand wash cycle counter enabled on each CleanTech® system, compliance for employees can be managed more proactively and reinforced based on real-time behaviors. And last but not least—hand washes delivered in CleanTech® systems only take 12 seconds, so it is quicker and easier than washing hands manually in a traditional sink.
Traditionally Meritech has served industrial manufacturing or environments where the risk of pathogen spread has always been a life or death situation. Some of these industries include food and beverage processing, packaging, cleanroom and pharmaceuticals, cannabis production, healthcare, medical technology manufacturing, back-of-house food service preparation, and cruise lines. We are beginning to see increased interest from consumer-facing businesses implementing heightened hygiene standards to ensure guest health and safety, including education, restaurants, retail stores, event spaces, amusement parks, and hospitality venues. We commend any business willing to make a long-term commitment to improved hygiene standards and join us in our mission to make the world a healthier, safer place.
When washing your hands manually about 3 gallons of water is used, and 60% of that water never even touches the hands. CleanTech® stations waste zero water and solution and 100% of the water used touches your hand and assists in pathogen removal. Furthermore, when washing hands manually, it is difficult to ensure that the proper amount of soap is used on the hands. Often people use too much soap, resulting in waste. CleanTech® stations deliver the exact amount of UltraPure Hand Hygiene Solution required to achieve effective pathogen removal, and its use is maximized via our proprietary spinning cylinder and jet nozzle technology evenly distributing the solution across all surfaces of the hands and wrists.
Meritech Hygiene Solutions are uniquely formulated for use in CleanTech® Handwashing Stations and Meritech Boot Washing Stations to maintain the appropriate chemical concentration (PPM) required to effectively remove pathogens and exceed regulatory recommendations while also improving skin health over time. Hands washed in a CleanTech® system with UltraPure Hand Hygiene Solution are left feeling fresher and softer with each wash, thus encouraging repeated use and great-feeling skin. These benefits are critical in creating a consistent efficacy result while encouraging frequent handwashing without the negative side effects commonly experienced with repeated traditional handwashing, like dry skin or chapped hands. We have conducted extensive efficacy studies in GLP-certified laboratories to prove that CleanTech® handwashing systems consistently remove more than 99.9% of harmful pathogens with each wash cycle. These studies were conducted on CleanTech® equipment using Meritech Hygiene Solutions, so 99.9% pathogen removal can only be guaranteed when using Meritech Hygiene Solutions in accordance with our recommended operating instructions. The use of other chemical solutions will negatively impact the efficacy of the hand wash process, can damage the equipment, and will void the equipment warranty.
