Validating CleanTech®

Since 1988 Meritech has performed 50+ lab studies to test the efficacy of our automatic handwashing stations. We have continued to test, improve, and re-test CleanTech® in order to provide the perfect hand wash every time in just 12 seconds. Check out the data behind the CleanTech® hand wash with more than 99% of harmful pathogens in just 12 seconds.

Handwashing Clinical Studies

The purpose of this study was to determine the immediate efficacy of the CleanTech® Handwashing System, using one cleaning agent, when challenged with various harmful, yet common, pathogens. We conducted these studies with a 3rd party laboratory, an the methodology used was based standards defined by both Food and Drug Administration and ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials).

The Glove Juice Method is one of the most common procedures for testing efficacy of handwashing products. Sterile gloves are put on the subject after their hands have been exposed to pathogens. A solution is then added to the gloves for sampling that tells us the concentration of pathogens. Then the hands are washed and the test is done again to see pathogen reduction. You can see an example of the sampling procedure below.

Pathogens Tested:

  • Feline Calicivirus (surrogate for Norovirus)
  • Serratia Marcescens
  • E-Coli
  • Human Coronavirus (Beta corona)

The Results - More than 99% Pathogen Reduction

Pathogen
Mean Log10 Reduction
Percentage
Feline Calicivirus (Noro) 4.17 99.993%
E-Coli 3.06 99.9%
S. Marcescens 3.19 – 3.47 99.94% - 99.97%
Human Coronavirus 3.00 99.9%

With over 30 years of data we have built fully automated handwashing stations that remove more than 99% of harmful pathogens in just 12 seconds.

We are incredibly confident in our technology and the data we have is the reason for that. If you are interested in taking a deeper look into the studies performed, download our clinical bulletin which will give you an overview of each study and its results.

Footwear Clinical Studies

The purpose of this study was to provide an evaluation of the sanitizing effects of footwear of a user using a CleanTech® handwashing systems with the footwear enhancement. The study evaluated the antimicrobial effectiveness of two footwear disinfection solutions (SelfClean & Meritech D2) when challenged with two microorganisms’ strains, Listeria monocytogenes (ATCC #19112) and Salmonella enterica (ATCC #13076).
