Cleaning & maintenance

For equipment to function properly and have a long life regular cleaning and preventive maintenance are critical. Please download and share the Cleaning and Maintenance Guide with those necessary.

General information:

Put on all appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

We recommend a minimum of protective glasses and gloves.

Disconnect your system

Whenever you are cleaning or working on the CleanTech Handwashing System you must disconnect the system from the electrical source and follow your lockout and tagout procedure for cleaning and sanitizing of equipment.

Do not use a power washer

When cleaning your equipment do not use a power washer to clean. This can damage equipment.

Schedule:

Daily

Clean the exterior of your system on a daily basis:

  1. Start with a disinfectant cleaner to clean the entire system
  2. Follow that up with a foaming cleaner
  3. Finish with a non-alcohol wipe cleaning product
  4. Spray cylinders with a disinfectant cleaner, after letting the cleaner dwell for 15-30 seconds, scrub the cylinders with a scrub brush

Weekly

Clean the interior of your system on a weekly basis:

Start with a disinfectant cleaner to clean the entire system

  1. Follow that up with a foaming cleaner
  2. Finish with a non-alcohol wipe cleaning product
  3. For tough spots use a Scotch-Brite pad - DO NOT USE the Scotch-Brite on any plastic, e-mod cover or photo-eyes.
  4. Use a hydrogen peroxide/water mixture to the cylinders and use a scrub brush to thoroughly clean the cylinders out. This will help kill any bacteria that may be in the system.

Monthly

Clean and sanitize underneath the EMOD cover especially the underside of the hand insert.

  1. Remove the EMOD cover
  2. Start with a disinfectant, followed by a foaming cleaner.
  3. Thoroughly clean and scrub cylinders. Start with hydrogen peroxide/water mixture followed by the disinfectant
  4. Clean and scrub soap holder area. Start with a disinfectant, followed by a foaming cleaner.
  5. Clean and wipe EMOD cover (may look different depending on model) and outside of basin. Start with a disinfectant, followed by a foaming cleaner.

Quarterly

Deep clean cylinders & solutions

  1. Remove cylinders and clean/scrub the basin, including photo-eyes and bearings.
  2. Start with a disinfectant, followed by a foaming cleaner.
  3. Remove all solution bottles.
  4. Fill a container with hot water and place all of the soap pick up tubes in the hot water.
  5. Run 20-30 hand wash cycles to flush the soap lines.
  6. Reinstall tubes into solution bottles. Plug the system back in and run 12 hand wash cycles
